Intentional Writing
It isn’t journal writing.
Without intention and direction, journaling is nothing more than ruminating on paper. Just like mental rumination, it feels like you’re working on something or trying to solve a problem. But rather than leading to clarity, the process only serves to keep you stuck. After you’re finished you might be more confused than you were when you began.
The two basic approaches to writing used here access two different kinds of processing: associative and logical/liner. The problem with unstructured writing is that you tend not to get the full benefit of either.
